A beautiful Lilihan runner with natural vegetable-dyed colours and a single-wefted (takht-baft) construction, specific to the Armenian village of Lilian in Iran. Sadly, rugs are no longer woven there in this traditional way by Armenians, and this piece is among the last works from this Armenian-inhabited region of Iran.
The movement of the floral motifs, the fine design details, and the character of the weave all reflect hundreds of years of experience and artistry, a rug-weaving tradition that has matured in this area over many generations.
